This information results in descriptive statistics that are added up for many (Registered or not) Users. We cannot trace these back to individual (Registered or not) Users.

Examples hereof are Cookies which:

  • Register the general use of the websites and apps (e.g. number of visitors, duration, sequence of visited pages, etc.)
  • Detect error notifications
  • Test designs for a better user experience (A/B tests)

If you consent to the use of Cookies for “Storage and Access to Information” and “Measurement”, we may combine these measurements with previously collected data to identify the number of unique Users of our websites and apps. 3.4. Cookies for Advertisements

You’ll see ads on our websites and apps. These advertisements are placed by us and/or third parties and are a necessary source of income to finance our editorial and digital platforms.

Some advertisements only take into account the content and position on the website (e.g. advertisements about sports equipment within the sports section). With Targeted Advertisements, Mediahuis describes your interests by means of target groups such as ‘sports enthusiasts’ on the basis of your Click Behaviour and Registered Data. Advertisers can then target their message specifically to these target groups. Sometimes Mediahuis places Cookies on the website of an advertiser. This allows us to show you an advertisement on Mediahuis Domein after you have visited an advertiser’s website.

These cookies make it possible to do this:

  • We keep track of which adverts you have seen to prevent that you always see the same adverts
  • We verify how many visitors click on the advert and thus we are able to share its usefulness with the advertiser
  • We pass on information on your Clicking Behaviour to other websites for them to show you Targeted Advertisements
  • Third parties can show you Targeted Advertisements on our Mediahuis Domains
  • We can show you Targeted Advertisements about our offer on other websites
  • Make offers about products and services more specific
  • Recognise your interests at the different Mediahuis Domains

Mediahuis works together with specialized advertising partners to reach a wider range of advertisers. To this end, these partners place their own Cookies on Mediahuis Domains and gain access to the target groups that Mediahuis manages. Please note: Mediahuis ensures that these partners do not receive any information from you that would allow them to recognise you immediately, such as your name or e-mail address, for example.

For Targeted Advertisements, we request your consent to the use of Cookies for “Storage and Access to Information”, “Measurement”, “Advertising Selection, Delivery and Reporting” and “Personalization”. You can change these preferences at any time via your privacy preferences.

Please consult the user conditions and the privacy policy of the relevant social media network to understand how the network handles your personal data.

Mediahuis Domains also use pixels, including the Facebook pixel. If you are looking for a job, house or car on Jobat.be, Zimmo.be and Vroom.be, for example, we can reach you later on other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, … with additional relevant offers. We can also display advertisements from Mediahuis Services such as trial subscriptions on social media sites if you have read articles on a Mediahuis Domain.
